Meditations for Mindful Living
This Group is very warm and welcoming. Most people comment on feeling a sense of belonging the moment they enter.
This group is for adults of all ages and meets every Tuesday from 6:30-7:30pm. We start with sitting guided meditation, followed by reading and discussing a teaching grounded in the Thich Nhat Hanh tradition. We then close with a short guided meditation. No experience is necessary. New comers and new ideas about ways to share Dharma are welcomed.
The purpose of the group is to share Dharma, and practices such as deep sharing and deep listening to support one another on the mindful living path: to live with more sustainable compassion and loving kindness, in our relationships and in the world.
I host this group with my partner Brian Petkash. We’ve both been meditating and practicing together in community since 2014. We practice engaged Buddhism, and our primary Dharma teacher is Fred Eppsteiner, a Dharma teacher in the lineage of Thich Nhat Hanh, and founder of The Florida Community of Mindfulness.
Eppsteiner has practiced primarily in the Zen and Tibetan Buddhist Lineages, he bases his teaches on the full breadth of Buddhist philosophical, psychological, and meditative traditions. His teachings support inclusivity, equity, and harmony in communities and relationships.
This practice isn’t about self-improvement or making ourselves better. Our practice turns us toward the ordinary compassionate heart that is already here, and has always been there in every single one of us.
